"Fostering Lifelong Creative Growth"

Priscilla Cohan was a curious curly-haired ceramicist with a lifetime of direct immersion in the arts as a collaborator, performance artist, preparator, potter, painter, student, puppeteer, administrator, board member, panelist, merchandiser, publicist, community art activist, arts instructor, and hybridizer.

This lifelong learner and community-centric being wrote and was awarded numerous grants for community art projects and in her hometown of Lyons. Priscilla stewarded the decade-long Clarifier Community Project, a community mosaic-installation in Lyons. Her neighborhood was hard hit by the Flood of 2013 and she did not hesitate to jump in to help her neighbors who were also devastated by the converging and unprecedented St. Vrain Creeks’ flood waters.

With an eager positive attitude, Priscilla showed up and followed through. She volunteered at the Lyons Redstone Museum and was the Cultural Arts Coordinator at the Town of Lyons, also acting as the town’s liaison to the Historic Preservation and Lyons Arts and Humanities Commissions. Priscilla courageously battled a rare and serious health condition and ultimately passed away in 2023.

The annually-awarded Priscilla Cohan Artistic Pursuits Fund is open to all artists (of all genres) on their creative journey. Whether spent on such things as supplies, class enrollment, books, workshop fees, arts-related transportation assistance, framing expenses, studio rent, or entry fees, these funds are awarded annually to applicants who best exemplify these traits: curiosity, collaboration, lifelong learning, community-mindedness, and positivity.

$25k in seed funding is needed to launch the Priscilla Cohan Artistic Pursuits Fund, a new arts-centric scholarship offered under the umbrella of Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) and in concert with Lyons Creative District (LCD).

Donations are needed ASAP to start filling up this cup — in honor of Priscilla Cohan — whose cup overflowed with a lifelong dedication to artists and the artistic community of Boulder County.

With sincere gratitude,

The Priscilla Cohan Artistic Pursuits Fund Committee
